Animals and Object
Indulgence and joy, these Texas critters share and play with teacups and saucers while others have become household objects like wall hooks, coat hangers and scarf racks. These works are hand-built stoneware clay and slip, soda fired to cone 10. Created during Red Lodge Clay Center residency, Red Lodge, Montana.
Exploring identity with animal and domestic narratives, I have chronicled caricatures of human identity through creature form. These characters often reflect their playful, funny, and friendly nature through object or action. These animals embody scenarios that encompass identity and individuality through behavior and relationship to object. The inner and external characteristics that each animal experiences provides a glimpse into their personal identity and self-objectivity.
